We all know that 1850 is a CallSave number, and that 1890 is a Locall number and that 0818 is a National Rate number. But do you know how much you’ll pay to call each of these numbers?
Check out our analysis on the Call Costs analysis of the costs of calling these numbers from most of the phone service providers available in Ireland.
Reading all that - the costs don’t really seem all that lo, or that you’re going to save all that much.

We have published a new page on the site detailing the cost of calling 1890, 1850 and 0818 numbers from as many phone companies as we could find.
The Call Costs page, linked to here, and in the menu bar above, now shows the real costs of calling these numbers - particularly if your phone package has inclusive minutes.
Calls to 1850, 1890 and 0818 are not deducted from inclusive minutes on any phone minute packages provided by Irish telecoms companies (except for one).
This shows how beneficial it is that you are able to use geographical telephone numbers instead - it saves you money if you have an inclusive minutes package with your phone provider.
So, what can we do?
- The ideal thing we should be demanding is that our phone providers include these 1890, 1850 and 0818 numbers in their inclusive minutes packages.
- Failing that, we should share any geographical alternative phone numbers that we know of with everyone else to allow us all save money on these calls.
And that’s what this website is for. If you know of any geographical alternative phone numbers that can be used instead of 1890, 1850 or 0818 numbers, e-mail us here, and we’ll share them with everyone else.

We have added numbers to the Banks section (BOI Credit Cards) and the Utilities section this evening on www.saynoto1890.com.
The two added to the Utilities section are for Pay as You Go Vodafone and Speakeasy O2 customers to call their respective customer services - but they only provide CallSave 1850 numbers.
These are interesting because these companies provide special numbers for their Bill Pay customers (1907 and 1909 respectively) - these numbers are free call numbers.
So, if you’re a Vodafone Pay As You Go customer, you pay 31c from your credit for every minute you are getting customer care.
And if you’re an O2 customer on a SpeakEasy plan, you pay 30c for each minute of your customer care calls.
