10 Responses to “Call Costs”

  1. Could you add another column for local and national geographical calls? I appreciate that each operator has different tariffs, so you could show the range from the lowest to the highest.

So do providers in Ireland still charge national geographical calls above local ones? For a number of years now in the UK there has been no differing “local rate”.

According to their websites, these providers align their local and national geographical call rates (where calls are chargeable):
    BT Ireland
    Perlico
    Talk Talk
Chorus NTL (except for national calls in the evening)

Those that charge more than local rate for national calls (where calls are chargeable):
    Eircom
    Imagine
    UTV

So some have one rate and some don’t. However, they all offer inclusive elements which all include both local and national calls.

In the case of calling 0818 numbers, do they employ per minute billing or are you charged a minimum amount and then per minute kicks in? I.e. if you call 0818 from an O2 pay monthly a/c is it (35c/60 X actual number of secs on the call)?

    Thx.

  3. Ann says:

unfortunatly this one doesnt work anymore:
    Tesco Car Insurance 1850 640 640 – Call 0214527465

  4. John Corri says:

I would prefer if businesses gave an ordinary land line number as well as an 1850, 1890, and 0180 number. As quite a lot of subscribers will now have a call package that includes free local and national geographical calls anytime. This would not cost the businesses or the caller anything.

  5. mike says:

    BOI 1890365365 – call 01404470 doesn’t work

  6. The.Q says:

Just a quick update on Perlico prices:

    Prices in cent per minute
    1850 – 6.68 minimum charge.
    1890 – 5.19 peak; 1.33 off-peak; 6.68 minimum charge
    0818 – 8.61 peak; 5.19 off-peak; 6.68 minimum charge

    All these prices include VAT.

  7. R Ford says:

I worked as a telephone engineer for nearly 30 years and my personal opinion is that charging on non geographical numbers is nothing short of a scam where the user is not warned of the charges by the advertiser. One has to be very astute to recognise non geographical numbers (especially the elderly) Useful site for the UK is say no to 0870.

  8. Sorin says:

    Magnet Customer Service 1890 809 000 – 016811601

  9. James says:

AIB phone banking – call (01) 7712424 if you have a bundle of minutes or free calls with your mobile provider.

  10. Ken says:

    B0I phone banking alternative 01 4044470

Note: Imagine Wimax is charging 18cents/min from landlines for 1890 numbers
