Following on from Conor Popes piece in PriceWatch last week about attitudes towards 1890 and 1850 numbers, we receive an e-mail from a business owner. It’s slightly related to a topic we’d covered some time ago on this site - here.

I was delighted to have learned of the http://www.saynoto1890.com/ website at the weekend.  My company got a 1890 number because we wanted to help customers keep their costs down when they were calling us – foolishly, we didn’t consider the impact on people who are in bundles and ringing from mobiles.  We have since included the local number on our website and literature.

Keep up the fight in making companies more aware!

As per the post linked to above, some companies like “the look” of 1890 numbers, particularly when compared to regional harder to remember prefixes.

Hopefully though, more and more companies will realise that their customers now are more likely to be calling from mobiles rather than from landlines. What that will also mean is that if the numbers are initially stored in phones after first use, it won’t really matter what number is being used.

A SayNoTo1890.com reader has asked if anyone has a geographical alternative for Dialwise.ie, the cheap international access number provider. Their 1890 number is 1890 99 03 03 or 1890 99 02 02.
